Hiya hun :o) I used to volunteer at a wildlife rescue centre, but hated the boss and the way he ran the place, awful, so decided to learn things for myself and do it independently, I learnt from other rehabbers and vets mostly, plus wildlife care books. Have been doing it myself for 6 years, I'm skint as I pay for it all out of my own money, but I love doing it. I saw that you were squeamish with blood, if you think you could overcome it then maybe you could volunteer in a rescue centre and this would help you get a paid job eventually in wildlife care, although you might have to move further afield as they're few and far between (same in the UK). I have a couple of contacts in the US who have devoted their lived to rehabbing, I could ask them if they have any pointers/tips for you if you like?
Nice to meet you by the way! x
