About Me: "There are obvious differences between humans and other animals, and these differences must give rise to some differences in the rights that each have. Recognizing this evident fact, however, is no barrier to the case for extending the basic principle of equality to nonhuman animals...
The extension of the basic principle of equality from one group to another does not imply that we must treat both groups in exactly the same way, or grant exactly the same rights to both groups. Whether we should do so will depend on the nature of the members of the two groups. The basic principle of equality does not require equal or identical treatment; it requires equal consideration. Equal consideration for different beings may lead to different treatment and different rights."
-Peter Singer, Animal Liberation, 1975
I am an abolitionist. Welfarists bother me but I understand that they have good intentions. I am against domestication of nonhuman animals and hope that one day, there will be no species forced to depend upon humans for survival. I also favor most anarchist theories even though I may not completely agree with every facet of each. I live with my fiance, two dogs, and cat. I am an artist, musician, and writer but I don't make money doing those things. I make money doing science on the brain.
How I became a veggie: I first got into the causes of animal tested products and animals as clothing because they seemed like such useless forms of torture. I still thought that eating animals was some sort of necessary evil as I was younger and uneducated about Veg*nism. Shortly after taking up animal causes, I learned about the farming industry as well as the lack of need for animal products in one's diet. I became lacto-ovo vegetarian almost immediately after learning this and vegan about 6 months following that. I have never turned back.
