How I became a veggie: I became a vegetarian when I was 12 years old. My friends and I had a crush on a TV star and we found out he was a vegetarian. I had a sleep over that night and we all decided that we would no longer eat meat. We did some research on the subject, and for dinner my mother brought home Taco Bell soft tacos. We informed her of our new dietary restrictions and didn't eat. At about 1 am we were so hungry we decided to try the soft tacos. I remember biting into it and instantly I felt sick to my stomach. I have been a vegetarian ever since. My mother was not supportive of my choice because I have always been very thin, and she felt that I was starving myself. But, after a couple years of taking me to nutritionists she finally realized that it IS a healthy lifestyle and there was no need for concern.
