About Me:
I'm just a person.
How I became a veggie:
I can't pretend that I meant to...it just kinda happened.
I went to visit my mom in oregon who had been a vegetarian for quite some time (on her way to veganism) and I figured I'd give it a shot for the summer, try it out, and if anything, I didn't want to be rude by eating meat in front of her.
So that summer went by, I came home, and in those first few hours of returning, my friends and I got together for a foot-long Italian BMT from SubWay (I know, I know... disgusting...).
Needless to say, I spent that night praying to the porcelain goddess, promising never to eat meat again.
That was about six years ago...give or take.
Why do I STAY vegetarian?
Health reasons, mostly. Ethical reasons, obviously. Environmental reasons.. Stubborness, too (people say it won't last...I'll show 'em...). That, and it's gross when you really think about it.
I'd love to go vegan, I would. Perhaps someday when I live in a vegan-friendly environment, the transition will be easier (but why every town isn't vegan-friendly is beyond me...). For now though, I'll settle for veggie-wursts and falafel and fakin' bacon (although not all at once) and recruiting others to vegetarianism (pretty sure I'm in the double digits now!!).
