About Me: I'm just a ball of anxiety and confusion lately. I want to make a positive impact on the world, but I'm not sure how one really does that. I'm a lazy perfectionist and a bit of a disorganized dreamer. I have severe wanderlust. I'm full of questions. I love playing devil's advocate. I like cooking and hate cleaning.
I'm about a year away from graduating with a BA in International Studies. I want to do something to promote human rights and sustainable development in Sub-Saharan Africa. I think food security, animal rights, and human rights are extremely interdependent.
How I became a veggie: I said, "As of midnight, I'm no longer eating meat." And then I actually followed through on it. A week later, I stopped eating eggs. Two weeks later, I stopped eating dairy and honey.
Want to know more? I've always loved animals. My half-sister is a vegetarian, but she spent very little time living with my parents. I was sometimes curious about vegetarianism, and gave it a few half-hearted attempts in middle school and high school. In October, 2007, I briefly dated a vegan. Seeing his consumption habits just showed me how easy it was to be veg*n. I did a little research, watched some graphic videos, and decided that I was not comfortable supporting animal agriculture.
