About Me: Hello!
First and foremost, I'd like to say that while I'm not opposed to making new friends, I'm a little weirded out by all of the friends requests I've been getting from complete strangers who don't send me a message to introduce themselves. If you'd like to be my friend, that's cool - but be my friend. For real. Say hello. Send me a letter. Chat with me sometime. If you're just going to go ahead and add me without saying anything, that's the internet equivalent of going up to someone in a bar and standing right in front of them just staring at them. It's creepy in real life, and it's creepy online, too. So please - introduce yourself! :)
That being said - Here's a bunch of random info about me:
- I volunteer with Food Not Bombs and past volunteering stints have included organic farms, community gardens, thrift stores, and an animal sanctuary. This summer I hope to help start another community gardening project in cooperation with our local Food Not Bombs chapter.
- I'm a college student majoring in medical laboratory science. It's fun times; I get to play with a lot of bacteria and stuff.
- For fun lately I've been doing a lot of random stuff - attending shows, film festivals, a cabaret, public debates, etc. I'm up for doing pretty much anything when I go out. Except dancing, but hey.
- I spend a lot of time online (possibly too much time online?) chatting on AIM and reading fark.com
- I'm a gay atheist. Just so ya know. Apparently this makes some people uncomfortable for some reason. Maybe those people got bit by a gay atheist once or something. On the bright side, I don't think I'm contagious. ;)
- Hobbies? Oh my god I need a hobby. Feel free to recommend something. I've previously dabbled in a variety of things including learning Esperanto, making and trading mail art, learning how to do string tricks and various origami shapes, reading zines, and cooking. School consumes a lot of my spare time now though and sadly a lot of things have fallen by the wayside, but this summer I'll be gardening and maybe learning French. It'll be nice.
- I love music. My morning commute is a sacred time for bonding with my beloved iPod. I enjoy many genres and many bands. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Ghost Mice, Meat Beat Manifesto, The Anniversary, Architecture in Helsinki, Bumcello, and Bishop Allen. This list, however, does not encapsulate all of my favourite bands, and the list is subject to change quickly without notice.
How I became a veggie: A summer at Farm Sanctuary will do that to you.
