About Me: I lived most of my life in New Jersey and moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1999. I absolutely love this city! It's the greatest mix of a small-town feel with large city amenities (theatre, clubs, fine restaurants, & plenty of art!). I spend my non-art time on our little "mini-farm" where we're growing organic produce & herbs on our one acre corner of the world. So far, it's been fun & successful..........I'm looking forward to spring, although I'm beginning to wonder when it'll get here???? If interested, you can find my artwork here: http://www.mkgodwin.com

How I became a veggie: I became a veggie when I was pregnant w/my second daughter. I figured the dislike for meat would go away when she was born.....it didn't. She's now 25, so I guess I'll stay this way :)

Yes...I'm here, thank you!

hello~* i haven't seen you on here lately. i hope all is well with you and your family~* Peace.

what do you use to keep the deer from eating everything in your garden?

we have 2 deer that are in our yard almost every night. one year they ate all my broccoli. i know there are a few plants that keep deer away, but i wondered what you do.

:)

im planting a garden this year. its not my first year growing a garden. ive grown tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers & lettuce before, but this is my 1st time growing a garden of the size i am planning. and im experimenting with some herbs & fruits. & flowers.

do you have any suggestions? i think i'm going to grow my things in raised boxes.

it's a funny time of year ...
indoor gardening must be done to get
plants ready to go out in May ...
Sod's Law prevails ....
if i plant now , it will get cold or soaked (last year)
but in a month , it can all go in and catch up pretty fast ....
if i don't waste preparation time now ....
it is a real bazaar chez moi ( that means a mess !)
and we are negotiating the slippery path between
turning off the heating , and digging out the pair of shorts
i will be wearing for the next 6 months (I AM ! OPTI-MYSTIK ! )
........ and strawberries soon ... real ones to fight over wid de slugs !

.......... apart from that , MajesticKali , i am just a likkle bit bored with all
dis meat speak ......... kinda feel it is all so dragging-the-heels ...down .... taking time to see a new perspektiv ..... i been out of circulation too long ...... it's like going to my local Bio (organic) wholefood co-operative ..... the owner jumps out of his foie gras when i tell him
i am vegan , and ask whether he cares about the volume of plastic packaging 'passed on' thru his store .....( not really )
I am feelin' very oldfashunned and too back-to-basics as it is in the culturellement gastronomique gourmandise ( the land of the raw minced horsesteak ) that is France , but sometimes it seems a whole lot easier than the identity crisis provoked by some of the
'vegan-friendly-producks' that i read about on this site .....
Just*Is , And datLovething ....

Thanks for the add! I really liked your answer to the "is soy safe" question. :)

I think it is so wonderful that you have your very own organic produce garden. It's great that you are able to do this! I really hope to have the same in the near future.

sadly.. i am the only one here.. that i know of.
i don't think many people here have the will power either.

It's sad. :(

but yay, that is why i joined here, and i have tons of vegans on my myspace too.. it feels like i am finally home. :O)

Thanks for answering my question. Sometimes we need to step out of the box and take a look at it from a different perspective. You helped me do that. Thanks again!

Thank you for accepting! I love it here!

That's a cool story how you became veg*n. Is your daughter veg, too?

Comment by mkgodwin
Yes. She has never had meat, and has never had the urge to try it.
