How I became a veggie: I was a vegetarian for a little over a year when I was twelve years old. I became a vegetarian after having seen a cow’s head hanging on a hook outside a butcher shop in Lebanon. When I came back to The United States, where the meat industry is much less visible then in the middle eat, I ended up slipping back into my omnivorous ways. I became a vegan when I was eighteen (almost three years ago). Veganism was something that I had been interested in for about a year before I actually made the switch. For a long time I had been putting off finding information about the meat and dairy industry. When I finally got around to it I was so horrified by what I had learned that I immediately made the switch from omnivore to vegan. I haven’t looked back since.
