About Me: -married to a vegan -raising my daughter vegan -planning to homeschool my kid(s) for so many reasons -love love love music -enjoy movies, especially documentaries, indie flicks and period pcs -i don't discuss my views on veganism to anyone who dsn't initiate the conversation. -i don't really drink but I couldn't call myself edge. I likes to drink a little champagne with the mom on Christmas.;-) -i spend a lot of time at my family's lakehouse so if I don't respond for several days, that's where I am. -i am extremely introverted (until I REALLY get to know you). I guess that's why I'm so chatty online. It's my only outlet! -MORE TO COME

How I became a veggie: Became vegetarian over 3 years ago first because my husband has a srsly sensitive stomach and would usually get sick after eating meat (beef mostly). After about a month, we decided to try going vegan. Milk wasn't an issue because I never liked milk unless on cereal or used for an ingredient. Cheese was the tough one. I was your typical cheese-addicted American. We stuck with it tho and after about 6mos I didn't really crave cheese anymore. The more I read about it, the more I knew this was the only way to live. There is absolutely NO REASON to eat any animal products. I think my family thought it was going to be just a phase (typical for me), but now they know this is forever. I generally try to keep my opinions on animal products to myself unless someone asks. And believe me, they always ask. I tell people it's important to at least KNOW where their food comes from and how their choices affect the world. Then they can make an educated decision. Usually I have found ppl don't even want to know. What a sad way to live your life!

hey, veg_grrrl. how've you been? i hope you and your family have been doing alright. we need some more interaction here... please come back and toss in your two-cents some time. :) and just ignore the meanies. ;P

Hello, nice to meet you, thank you for adding me- can I ask how do you find it raising your daughter vegan? Do you get hassle or are people supportive? :)

Wish I could talk you into coming to the potluck this Saturday, we'll have to do something central next summer.

thanks for the add veg grrrl. it's redundant but you have beautiful kids. how old is your daughter? our Sam just turned 3.
Blonde Redhead, eh? haven't thought about nor listened to those guys in years.
nice to meet you,
Russ

yeeaa...but i do have to wait for a couple years still to go fully..i'm leaving for school soon in chicago..and i talked to them there about the food situation..
and they basically said 'big deal' to me about being vegan, and that i can eat the salad bar..
okay, for the first 30 days, i can't leave campus..so that means i will be eating salad 60 times that month..how 'effin lame..so i know it's not even an idea for me to go raw yet..i want to wait until i'm finished with school and have a good job.
xxoo

hey, thanks for the ideas!
i forgot to mention though, i am staying far away from processed soy as much as possible.
within the next two years i want to go raw..so i'm cutting things out now..like soda and processed foods.
I just make bbq black bean burgers if i want a veggie burger..but i did make chili and cornbread a week or so ago.
but, i've just ran out of ideas.
and i have a cook book (the voluptuous vegan), but like i mentioned, i need the quick recipes.
i do, however, like to make things in bulk like you suggested.
back when i lived with the ex-boyo, i'd cook every saturday and sunday for the whole week.
but, like i said, thank you so much for the help!
xxoo

hey! where do you buy your playfood? do you think it's at WholeFoods? i have not tried this kind, but am willing... :) hope your week is lovely!

You have a beautiful little girl. It is cool you have a little girl and are raising her vegan. Yay!

It isn't stupid! It is cool. =-)

Hello there. =] I think it is so fabulous you are raising your daughter vegan. I too do not discuss my veganism unless someone asks - and yes, they usually do, & then I find they usually want to argue about it! People amaze me... so I'm very glad there are people like you. =] Have a great day!

o ok :)
hope you had a nice weekend<3
