My super awesome barbecue sandwich (quick and easy)

This sandwich is a staple for me during college football season. And college football season here, and nothing matches the excitement and parity of college football! My LSU Tigers are ranked #7 and coming off their second national championship in four years. I am excited, and this awesome sandwich goes along with the spirit of the college football season.

It's also a quick and easy recipe. Now it might not be especially healthy, but there are far worse things for you. Plus it's simply delicious.

Step one: dice half of a small onion. I like red onions myself, but any onion will work. Also, you can add a couple of cloves of minced garlic. Fry this in a healthy amount (a few Tbl spoons at least) of extra virgin olive oil. I like to add some red pepper flakes to the oil, but that is optional. Cook it until the onions get soft.

Step two: add one pack of Boca "Meatless Ground Burger" crumbles. (You can also use prepared TVP.) Saute this until heated thoroughly.

Step three: add your favorite brand of bbq sauce. I just squirt it in there and stir it up. You can kind of eyeball this. This sandwich is already messy. Adding too much will make it super mess.

Step four: put it on the bread. Hot dog buns work well here! They contain the messiness. However, my favorite way to eat it is on a ciabatta from St. Louis Bread Company (or Panara Bread for you non StL people). I also like it on pickles.

Yeah. This sandwich is really good, and pretty quick and easy to make. It is best enjoyed with one of these fine Louisiana brews:
