These last couple of days have been ridiculous. I am a seventeen year old hyper active night owl who has no problem getting amped up and staying vigilant into the early hours of the morning.. lately I am fatigued by noon, sleepy by 5, and absolutely ready to pass out at 8:30 PM. Mind you, that is after waking up at 10 AM. There is clearly something wrong :[.
I've been full on vegan since last July and have had no energy problems prior to these last couple of days. My diet tends to be pretty moderate and nutritionally complete... I may have been slacking lately but not to an extent I would be this exhausted. I ran myself down to the core working on Obama's campaign to make Nevada blue and these effects came only after his victory.
My question basically is: As a vegetarian or vegan would you consider this normal?; has this ever happened to you?; how do you stay energized when your normal diet is not cutting it?

A:Actually its perfectly normal for your age. Your internal clock doesn't want you to wake up early. The problem is society tries to force you into their schedule. The only way to "fix" it is to slowly wake up earlier each day until you get to where you want to be.

A:I am also a night owl who burned myself out on long nights and too many stimulants. I hope that your case is acute and not chonic like my fatigue. I believe that I went into adrenal fatigue. Stay off the stimulants, especially energy drinks and eat raw for a couple of weeks. Juicing can help too. Make sure you juice with fresh, organic spinach. That will wake you up in minutes. The best of luck to you. I know all too well about fatigue. I have been there, a lot!

A:pretty much burnout or virus was what I would say as well.
Your body can also react that way to mental stress.
Next time your at the doctors it couldnt hurt to get checked for Epsteen Barr. Im not sure if its true, but I read that almost 80% of the population has varying degrees of it. it attacks your body like chronic fatigue.
Im only mentioning it, because I have it and thats how it started before it got severe.

A:Could be a burn out...
I burn out every once in a while. Usually end up sleeping in long for a couple of days and resting if I can, then I feel better.
I always find that extra vitamin C/B-complex helps to wake me up a bit when I am overly tired. Beef up the good carbs as well. But, overall, you might just need the rest.
It's ok to sleep extra sometimes.

A:Well, it is cold/flu season. Maybe your body is fighting something off. You were probably exposed to a lot of people campaigning and also burning the candle at both ends. A total set-up for the immune system. Just go with it, treat yourself well and like others have said, take vitamins. I would take mega Vit C. Vit C is water soluble so you will not OD.

A:yep- burnout. And now you are oversleeping which makes you feel lethargic and shit. You just need a healthy routine and you'll be back to normal in no time

A:hiya. It just be your body catching up from exhaustion. you've been so busy that it never had time to rest. In a few days with lots of rest you should feel better.
It could be something lacking in your diet. I've been vegan for 14 years and haven't had that problem. BUT, in the last year I haven't eaten as well as i'd like. I've noticed it a bit (harder to get over colds, tired, etc.). So, i've gotten a whole foods multivitamin that has harder to find things that we need (such as B6). I'd recommend a multivitamin just to cover your bases. It can't hurt.
