Smart Balance Light Buttery Spread with Flax Oil (vegan)
|
Product Type: Food and DrinkNutritional Information Amount/Serving %DV* Total Fat 5g 8% *I purchased this out of desperation when no Earth Balance could be found. Turned out to be a mistake. =/ This stuff separates into small, light clumps in the container and needs draining every time you take it out of the fridge. The taste is mediocre, but the container warns/advises you not to use it in baking... only as a spread or topping. They recommend to use the regular Smart Balance for baking... which has fish oil in it. Ummm... gross. I guess if you're desperate, though, and only need something to spread on your toast or muffin... it's not horrid. more experiments... i tried
more experiments... i tried using this in the butter tray of my hot air popcorn popper and ended up with more watery-ness. =( it tastes alright, but i had to mix it up after it melted to reincorporate the water. hmpf.
This stuff is good when I
This stuff is good when I can't find/too poor to buy Earth balance. I've never had any issues with it separating or anything. I works pretty good in making frosting. My non veg bf is hooked on this stuff and stopped using regular butter, yays.

hmmm... maybe i need to check my settings on my fridge, but it's always watery for me. =/
frosting = great idea. thanks! i just might have to make a cake or some cupcakes today. =)
I use this stuff pretty
I use this stuff pretty often for baking, sauteing, and as a spread. Maybe I'm just used to the taste (and I've never even tried Earth Balance ^_^), but I don't mind it at all.
you've used it for baking?
you've used it for baking? i haven't tried to bake with it yet; the warning on the container scared me! ;P i suppose the taste is a little better than mediocre... i guess i was just frustrated with the water/separation issue.
