Match Burger (vegan) sold in Busch Stadium, St. Louis
|
Product Type: Food and DrinkOkay, it's good for vegetarian baseball fans to have options at the ballpark. And this one is both vegan and pretty good. Match is a locally made vegan, seitan-like product. I had this last time I went to the ballpark (where Skip Schumaker got a walk-off base hit for the win against a pretty good Rays team), and once before. They are good. They would be better if I were to make it at home of course, but overall it's pretty cool knowing you have a veggie option. It's probably not that great for you though. And it's certainly overpriced (I don't remember the price, but I'm sure it's at least $4). I'm going to a game again soon, and plan to eat a couple. ![]() Sun, 06/15/2008 - 5:18pm — Anonymous

I love these burgers! They
I love these burgers! They taste delicious and they are one of the cheapest items on the menu!
This stuff is sold in the
This stuff is sold in the frozen foods section of Whole Foods. It's rather expensive ($8/lb.), but worth it when you really want something that will trick your friends into eating vegan food. Plus, it comes in vegan versions of chicken, beef, sausage, crab (I think?), etc. It's pre-seasoned pretty well and cooks easily in a skillet or on a grill.
P.S. I saw that Cacey had posted a recipe for faux fried chicken that calls for Match. I'm sure it's just delicious.
EDIT: If you go to Match's website, they have a list of places around STL that sell their product (it includes a few restaurants you wouldn't otherwise suspect...such as Chris's Pancake House on Southwest and the Schlafly Taproom).

Interesting! Do you know
Interesting! Do you know which stand/specific restaurant? Or is it at most of them?
Also, do you know if the bun it comes with is vegan as well? I know sometimes places will have a vegan-friendly burger but would have to be ordered "naked" because the bun wasn't vegan-friendly as well.
Thanks :)
They are at Dizzy's Diner.
They are at Dizzy's Diner. Sorry, I should have specified that. My mistake.
I'm not sure what kind of bun they use.
