Do you treat your pets like children?

What are you talking about? OF COURSE! They ARE my children!

Sometimes, but not always. We have to maintain our traditional roles of animals and humans.

I have pets, but they're pets. There's a line that you just don't cross.

I have no pets, but if I did I would absolutely treat one like it were my child.

I have no pets, but if I did, I would keep a separate line between animal and human

I have no pets, and I think the people who treat their pets like their kids are loony.

I chose that they are my children, but I don't treat them like humans because they are not humans.

My pets are my children. I

My pets are my children. I look after them, care for them, and heck I spent $4000 on surgury for one (he had to have his gallbalder removed, and a week long vet stay, and a blood transfusion, plus six months of medication). Call me crazy but I believe in if there is a way to help them I will. As I told my father, if it was $4000 for my health needs he wouldn't blink an eye.

I was walking the pupper the

I was walking the pupper the other day and encountered a human and, as I discovered in our conversation, a fellow dog owner. After she walked away, my dog was still trying to get some loving from her, which obviously interfered with our walk. So in order to try and "focus" her on the walking and shift her focus from the human who had been petting her, I picked her up and intended to walk to where the lady was out of sight, then resume the walk. The lady saw this and said "oh wow, she's going to be super spoiled!" SO. . . . . I posted this to see if I'm really spoiling my animals or if we're all spoiling our animals and that lady was just in the "line you don't cross" category.

I think you did the right

I think you did the right thing picking the puppy up to distract her from the attention she had been getting.

I've always had wonderful critters in my life and I do treat them a little like kids, but more like really close friends. I think they make me a better person. And also, I love fuzzy kitty hugs :)

Love them as if they were my

Love them as if they were my own children. They are the main reason why I became vegan and have tought me a great lesson of respect and compassion for others. Even if they are furry and sneak into my wardrobe to rummage through my clothes and sleep on my notes while I'm studying (specially on the paper I'm reading at that moment, hehe :))

So I certainly treat my

So I certainly treat my kitty like the member of my family that he is, and I voted that way too. But it sort of creeps me out when people refer to me as his mom. I'm not his mother. I did not birth him; he is not the fruit of my loins. We're buddies, friends, companions, etc. But he's definitely not my child.
