apple spice oatmeal
|
Category: BreakfastI just made this, and am eating it as I post! They sell those instant "apple" oatmeal things, and I've had them and they taste like fake apples, like what they flavor lollipops with, so I had this idea. I just sort of threw stuff in a pan, so bare with me if you're a measurement weirdo. Step one: I chopped up two (tiny) Johnathan apples into itty bitty bite size pieces. If your apples are normal sized, one will suffice. Step two: Get out your pan (note: do not use the pan which you used to make fajitas the night earlier, because there will be subtle undertones of taco seasoning). Heat up some margarine, maybe a tablespoon and a half. Step three: Sprinkle in a handful of light brown sugar. Stir until it melts in with the margarine. Let it get a little bubbly! Step four: Add your apple pieces! Apple hefty sprinklings of cinnamon, and a wee sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice (if you have it). Stir it alllll around and let it get all bubbly. Step five: Add about a cup and a 1/4 of water. Bring up to a boil, put the lid on the pan, and stand there until you think the apples are softer. Remove lid and stir again. Step six: Add a half cup of 1 minute quick oats. Stirrrrrrrr until oats are done (if the water goes away, you can add a little more.) Step seven: Scoop into bowl & Eat.
