Sacred Grounds
|
If you ever find yourself on the East side of the Mississippi River in the St. Louis area, make a beeline to Sacred Grounds. There you will find a wide variety of tasty treats, eats, and drinks all for reasonable prices in a groovy atmosphere. It is a coffee place and the coffee is good stuff. But they also have chai made on the premises and they're happy to make it with soy or rice milk for the lactose intolerant (me, I'm lactose intolerant by choice, being vegan and all). They have a stunning array of baked goods, made fresh and daily, and a goodly amount are vegan. My fave are the chocolate-coconut chip cookies. Yum! They also do soups, sandwiches, and lotsa extra stuff on weekends--and they always can do something vegan, even during the Saturday morning crunch. Open 7 days a week, 18 hours a day. They put the yes, siree in service. This place is way popular with the local peeps, as it should be. There's art on the walls that rotates monthly and lots of bike-themed art that is there permanently, along with the large number of cyclists who make Sacred a mandatory post-ride stopping point.
