What's Your Favorite Animal Rights Movie?

Not like a documentary but a regular movie.
Mine would be either Year of the Dog or Legally Blonde 2

Chicken Run is a must

I'd argue The Last Unucorn if only for recurring themes of not caging things

...that Matthew Briderick film is "Project X"

Shoogs :) okay so yes -"secret of nimh" is more ar-ish in the way of that they are lab rats and they get all crazy shit smart and break out and have an undergound city and a large jewel and save timothy BUT "watership down" is all
ar-ish because the rabbits are living in their little area and the houses begin to encroach and take away their homes and then when they try to find food and things the people hire exterminators and fiver starts to sense things and has dreams about blood.... so... pssshhhh yeah... erm... yeps. cased closed, shoogs. case fuckin closed.

to the Milo and Otis fans, I hate to ruin your day, but in the scene where the cat is in the river, something like 50 cats died while they were trying to make that scene. It was made in another country and hence legal to do so.

I liked Year of the Dog a lot. 12 Monkeys is probably my favorite... because of all of the misplaced blame and the awesome ALF in there.

Would Harry and the Hendersons be one?? He did eat fish though. Also, I have heard A LOT of rumors that animals were hurt and killed in the making of Milo and Otis....I do not know if this is true or just an Urban legend.

I really liked this obscure movie called "All the Little Animals," with a young Christian Bale playing a troubled animal lover who befriends an old guy who likes to bury road kill to give them their proper respect. The plot isn't necessarily the most riveting, but I loved that it brought out ideas most people don't usually think about.

12 Monkeys was another one of my favorites back in the day.

a very animal rights cartoon, is plague dogs if you can find it. its not really something I care for, as its completely dreadful, but for people who want like those "where does your food come from" sorts of docus would really enjoy it.

thinking about it, maybe I should start reviewing AR specific Graphic novels/comics I do know a lot about them.

EDIT: oooh! milo and Otis is indeed good. also the first babe I member seeing in art class, its really fantastic too.

I should watch NIMH again; it's been a while. And, yeah, Project X (matthew broderick and the monkeys) was a good one. I always used to like Charolette's Web and The Fox and the Hound, too.

I liked "Year of the Dog" with Molly Shannon. Secret of NIMH, we just watched that one again I love it. Babe II Pig In The City rocked my socks off, I've been looking for it for years, I need to see it again. Wallace and Grommit are vegetarians but the guy who makes them isn't. ? wierd. Most of the kids movies with critters- Barnyard...something??? The web one... all those kiddie flicks kick ass. Moezy and I haven't been able to sit through the Earthlings all the way yet. I'm forgetting some major ones- my memory is all kerfuffle.

Just knowing Watership Down is w/buns and maybe sad, I am afraid to watch. I just saw the NIHM movie recently...very good! Another off-beat one that is indirectly animal rightsish that I really like would be "Battlefield Earth".

"Watership Down" is a good movie. But "The Secret of Nimh" would be the more "animal rightsy" movie? The only official animal rights movie I can think of is the one with the guy that played Ferris Bueller with the chimps, a cold war favorite I'm sure.
