Seems like every time I hear of PETA these days, it's about the "sexiest vegetarians" or somebody's getting naked. What do you think of this approach?

A:I personally dislike PETA and their campaings. They're simply sexist. There are other ways of spreading veg*anism. Do you really think that people who watch these ads are thinking about the ethics behind a veg way of life? or about animal suffering? I don't think so... they just watch them to see if they can get a glimpse of Pamela Anderson's tit.

A:I don't personally support PETA but I don't actually have a problem with these ads, I find them more tasteful than trying to compare animal cruelty to slavery or the holocaust.... Just my opinion.

A:I don't mind it, whatever works I say, and it does get attention. Basically, some people see it as demeaning of yourself or whatever, but the person is posing for free, by there own free will, and the animals are being tortured not of there own free will, so I don't really see the controversy with sexy ads. There is sexy ads for pretty much anything and everything, so why not to save animals too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A:I dislike them. I'm a married man, I don't want to see that crap. Plus people exploiting themselves (even if it is self-exploitation done in the name of ending exploitation) is still exploitation.
I'm not going to use the word exploitation for 2 weeks now.

A:I HATE this approach.
I am a vegan for many reasons.
Escaping commercialism and consumerism is one of those reasons.
Marketting veganism like a thing you can buy, or as a quality that you can posess so that you will be "sexier" or more popular is a disgrace to my cause!
I find it embarassing quite frankly.
Becomming a vegan should be a choice make because you see something that is not right, because you want to make a difference, it should not be some flakey supperficial thing you want to give a try because you saw a sexy PETA ad.

A:hmmm. I'm not sure how I feel about PETA or their sexy ads. Personally, it's sort of gross and reminds me of how Hardee's/Carl's Jr. advertise with "sexy" ads. PETA as an organization? Well, they seem to be getting the message out in their own sexy way and that is important I suppose. There seems to be plenty of space for multiple animal rights organizations, so I'm not very concerned about what one is doing and what one is not. I'm sure they will all differ in how they get the message out there.

A:Sex does sell, and that is why their campaigns work. They have been doing them for years because they are effective. I don't question the nude ads, as they are usually tastefully done, and very artistic. What I question is when they use trashy porn stars like Jenna Jameson, and that older fat guy with the mustache, I can't remember his name right now. Like a porn star is a good positive role model for an organization, what were they thinking?!

A:eh.... I'm probably alone on this one, but I don't support PETA, but I think that sex sells and that's probably one of the few ways you'll reach the public. It seriously amazes me on how people can barely watch 10 minutes of Earthlings and somehow sit through 4 hours of pornography.
