the rights of hunters and anglers

my fellow vegans,

for those who are not aware, i live in kansas. kansas is a fantastic place to live. our state legislature recently decided we have the right to own machine guns, stop the women in our families from having abortions (well, we’re trying), and thought that the secretary of health and environment didn’t have the right to say ‘yanno what? i think it would be bad for the environment and the health of kansans to have a coal plant.’

but here's the one of greatest interest to you, my fellow vegans, protectors of animals, the environment, and our health:

the rights of hunters and anglers are in danger by animal-rights activists so we, as concerned citizens for the right to hunt and fish, must pass as constitutional amendment to protect these great outdoor activities.

not regular legislation. a constitutional amendment. because, clearly, the animal-rights activists, like peta, have a chance in hell (not kansas hell, the real hell, fire and brimstone hell) of gaining a majority in our state legislature and outlawing hunting. we ar activists are out in force in kansas.

The hunting and fishing amendment is a largely symbolic response to efforts by animal-rights groups that have been seeking bans on hunting and fishing.

If it passes, hunters and anglers would still have to follow state regulations covering seasons, licensing, poaching and trespassing, said Rep. John Grange, R-El Dorado, who carried the measure on the floor. He said 16 states have passed similar amendments.

About the only practical effect is that a future Legislature would have to go to voters to ban hunting and or fishing, Grange said.

"It's kind of a statement that we are willing to ask that our rights be protected," Grange said.

A spokeswoman for the animal-rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said the proposed amendment "trivializes the state's most important document."

"If we have the right to hunt and trap (in the Constitution), why not the right to shop and golf?" said Nicole Matthews of PETA.

but we will take every fucking opportunity we have to keep those gays from marrying or those women from choosing abortion or those damned illegals from getting state funds (which we spent $1,000,000 to find out one undocumented immigrant had received any state assistance). hell, we had a county attorney announce to many people that homosexuality is illegal (which it is) and hint that it might even [still] be constitutional to prosecute (and it might be in kansas).

PROTECT THE HUNTER'S RIGHTS! LET'S KEEP FISHING! MAKE IT CONSTITUTIONAL!

not like i can leave here. i still have two years left on my gym membership contract.
