do u buy or wear leather products and if so why?

i noticed that alot of vegetarians and vegans wear and buy leather products such as shoes, belts, wallets, purses, etc. the statistics on this home page show that roughly %70 of the ppl said that cruelty to animals is #1 reason why they chose the veg lifestyle. leather comes from the same source as the meat.

i never ever buy animal products. i will wear things that i already own if i don't have a suitable substitute. (at the moment, just one belt and a wallet that i have had forever-- if they felt at all leathery to me, i wouldn't use them-- and until i have the money to buy replacements, i really have no other choice).

I'm a vegan, and thus, know that it's wrong to wear the flesh of a tortured being as a fashion accessory. No exceptions.

I don't buy or wear any leather.

A few years ago, I bought a used car that had leather seats. I chose that car because I had learned to drive on the same type of car and I wanted a car I was comfortable driving, since I was just starting to drive again after a serious automobile accident. They don't make that kind of car without leather seats. I kind of felt okay buying it because it was a used car and I wasn't contributing to the initial purchase of it, but I felt like a total hypocrite driving it. I recently bought a brand new economical car with cloth seats and I feel much better about driving my purchase. :)

I'm pretty adment about not using leather of any kind. But I do know a few vegans who are cool if its second hand items. Also I'd urge you to remember how faux products are getting better and better at looking like the real thing. I don't know how many times I get stopped about my mcbeths, or my vinyl Allora laptopbag.

I am hoping everyone on here would say no, unless your only reason for being veg was strictly for health reasons. If you think it is wrong to kill them to eat, I would certainly hope you would agree that killing them for the sake of vanity is just as bad.
