Should an animal rights activists be a vegan?

I have a friend who says he loves animals; he is a vegatarian and involved in "in your face" street activities aimed at convincing people to become vegetarians. He berates me for being a Christian (according to him it is not compatible with being a vegetarian) and for buying and cooking meat occasionally for some elderly sisters. I have asked him why, if he is so committed to animal welfare, he is not a vegan? I do not understand it and find it hypocritical in view of his attitude towards me. I am interested in what others have to say and how you would deal with such a situation.

What do think/feel about dating a non veggie or vegan?

What is your feelings and thoughts about dating someone who is not veggie or vegan? Would you, could you....

Just curious.

For me I guess it would totally depend. I would not put it out of the picture. But it is something I prefer.

fat people.

sorry... there's just no "PC" way to say that without it sounding like a joke. there's a huge prejudice (no pun intended) against individuals that are overweight. i think many vegans also have these prejudices because vegans tend to eat a healthy diet that naturally maintains a normalized weight. is it wrong to think that people are fat just because they are "lazy, gluttonous, and undisciplined"? i can't say i've actually seen a fat vegan. though, i have seen my fair share of vegans that could actually benefit from *gaining* some weight.

...thoughts?

overpopulation being an issue what do you think about having a child/children?

i know this is alittle off the subject but being vegan and trying to live as "green" as i can the issue of having children vs. adoption/child free seems to come up from time to time.

Should meat be illegal?

Outlawed Burger

This is just hypothetical, but imagine there is a vote coming up that could make meat illegal for everyone. Would you vote to make it illegal?

to the vegetarians: why not go vegan?

i'm very curious why vegetarians still consume dairy and eggs. is it because you just like the way they taste? or is it convenient? or do you just not know about the industries that you support? i'm not trying to be condescending, but i sense a division here between vegans and vegetarians. it would be nice to give the vegetarians an opportunity to provide logical reasons why they still support the dairy/veal and egg industries. *please* no fighting or smartass remarks, ok? let's keep this mature and educational. i have a lot of respect for everyone on this website.

Re-Using Leather? Is it right?

I just bought some $3 red leather boots from the thrift store, but to me, resuing what's been used isn't bad, compared to buying a new item with leather, you know what I mean? I want to buy a car, a used one, now let's say that comes with leather, I'd feel the same.

But what do you guys think? Is it ok to reuse something that has leather or do you still think it's wrong?

Firearms Pistols Bazookas Flare-guns Revolvers Brass-knuckles Nun-chucks?

Fucking Mall Goths

This looks like a good place to air this conversation. What about the right to bare arms? Do you own a gun? Would you like to? Would you rather not?

Have you had any experiences with this topic? Should the standing laws surrounding gun culture be changed? What would happen if they were changed?

Why and/or why not?

what's your religion/spirituality/theology/faith?

religion and theology has popped up a lot, so i figured it should have it's own space. and to the atheists/agnostics, PLEASE be nice. i know some people are adamant about hating religion as much as some people are zealous and passionate about their faith/spiritual theology.

What do you do at a restaurant when a piece of meat accidentally drops in your food?

If you order something vegetarian at a veggie friendly restaurant, & there is a random piece of meat in it, what do you do? Pick it out & keep eating? Or send it back, resulting in waste of food?

What if you accidentally EAT a piece of meat? Do you get upset about it? Or just say it was a mistake & you had no idea you were eating it?
