No Meat, No problem

Here's a post that I made at my blog: http://bgreeneco.blogspot.com/2008/11/no-meat-no-problem.html

"B" Green is the biggest meat lover of them all. You can't beat me in Rib eating, pork, steak and the like. Chicken wings are perhaps my favorite and just any chicken dish in general. But the challenge is on and motivation is something that drives me to do things that I never really thought about doing or conceived possible. After all, man shall not live by [meat] alone.

So as timely as can be, I ran along a series of new blogs. Now that I'm promoting Living, Teaching and Building Green, I'm a lot more interested in "green" things.

I've been continuously pressed about how much progress I'm making. I can't let the process be rushed. I must let the "Greening" gods have their perfect work in me.

After all, how many black 20-somethings do you know that are environmentally conscious? I mean let's get real here. I'm not going to back down from speaking frankly, I never have.

But this whole eating meat thing is a trip. Apparently it can cause some major issues. There are more and more studies about how it can cause you harm. And, by not eating meat, you actually do a great deal of good to the environment.

Welcome to the veg*n

Welcome to the veg*n universe! There are so many environmentalists out there who still don't get the connection! It is wonderful to see someone who does. Yeah for you!

Nice. Growing up in the south as a cajun, i was surrounded by meats and ate it wholeheartedly growing up. I made the decision to quit 16 years ago and it wasn't easy. I ate meat more than anything. absolutely loved it. still smell it now and like the smell and know it tastes good. BUT, my ethics have put an end to that. The best things in life tend to be hard and this has been no exception. Being a veg when i lived in the south (louisiana) sucked. People were and still are close minded. But, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Exactly. It wasn't as tough

Exactly. It wasn't as tough a decision for me. I'll miss chicken wings and meat pizzas the most but those are things that are really harmful to my diet and body. Southern habits die hard but it seems like the right thing to do. Thanks for your comment.

Any meatless suggestions as I'm trying to diversify my diet. I'm mostly eating Boca Burgers and Morning Star products.

Yeah, if you're going to be

Yeah, if you're going to be a big environmentalist, you definitely shouldn't be eating animal products.

Exactly. That's why I HAD to give it a try. I must give credit to a friend who added some extra motivation though.
