My First Itty Bitty Harvest!
|
I could stand it no longer! I have been spending quite a bit of time out in my little "patch" of a garden! The weather has been beautiful and spending time with all my colorful little plants brings a nice smile to my face. Today, I couldn't help myself. After watering all the little babies as the sun went down, I admired how much my lettuce plants had grown. Grown enough to eat!!! So, I harvested some of those big ruffled leaves, all purple and chartreuse, leaving the little ones for another day. I brought them inside. Cleaned them up and prepared myself a nice salad. I've always enjoyed cooking. Touching the food and creating something delicious. But, this time was different. This time there was something more. I felt proud but I also felt connected. It felt marvelous. Ah! And it was delicious too!!! Thu, 04/17/2008 - 10:45pm — hifiorange

I miss not having a garden!!
I live in these human storage compartments they call apartments. and i cant wait to get out this is the first year ive not had a garden.
Sounds like yours is doing well!!!
horray for home-grown
horray for home-grown veggies! =)
until this past week, we'd still been dealing with freezing temperatures off and on at night... so i've been reluctant to plant anything yet. it's on the agenda for this weekend, though. i'm starting out with just a few small pots/containers since i don't have my own place yet - just some basil and mesclun (sweet salad mix). i love watching it all grow under my care and knowing that i'll soon have some (basically) free, organic, home-grown herbs and veggies.
