Keep the change

It was interesting to find out that on military bases in "action" the soldiers receive pogs instead of change. They do get paper money. But when it comes to the quarters, dimes, nickles, and pennies, they get pogs. These pics were taken on my counter. (You will notice and acknowledge my gorgeous counter top). Some soldiers use these "funds" to collect and donate to a younger, less ranked soldier with a family. That is a great thing to do. But this "money" isn't valid anywhere but there. I say WTF?

Change jingles. Metal clinks. Plastic does not. This IS very important in a war zone.

Also, our money is only metal because of tradition. A nickle is not made out of nickle, nor worth any nickle anymore. This all happened about 60 years ago or more, when we went off the gold system.

I could understand the possibility of them being quieter. But you can't cash them in unless they add up right. SO it's like they are stealing a little at a time.Don't leave your change in your pocket on laundry day.

yeah, she's very excited. spreading the news as i write this. i have a name i like but am not allowed to present it. she got negative feedback on Sam's name and she doesn't want that to happen again.
