Hey Mr. AntiChrist! That manatee on my profile picture is getting his head pat while he's chewing on the boat's anchor rope. I went swimming with manatees a few months ago and two or three of them hung out with us at the boat while we were stopped and thought it was fun to nom on the rope, or the stairs, or whatever they felt like. One of them even pulled the zipper down on one of the guy's wetsuits. :)

I know its not that common but my thoart will close up if anything I eat has beef in it. So I jsut dont bother getting meat at all.

Dunbar's work is pretty interesting and by far makes the most sense in comparison other theories about the neocortex. (Man the Hunter, my ass! The aye-aye lives on a protein diet and it is a small-brained prosimian.) ...anyway... It really is interesting that the number 150 pops up as the prime number for social constructs.

My all time favorite book on primates is "Man the Hunted" by Donna Hart and Robert Sussman. Fair warning, Dr. Hart was my favorite professor in college so I am very biased. It's well written and entertaining as well as informative. "A Primate's Memoir" by Robert Sapolsky and "Almost Human" by Shirley Strum are also great, though both are baboon oriented. Anything by Jane Goodall and Birute Galdikas are classics.
