About Me: The Raw Vegan life goes beyond just what you eat. It's also about what "foods" you avoid (wheat, soy, sugar, dairy, etc.), occasional fasting, sleep, exercise, our spiritual journey and many other things. I practice Zen Buddhism, always grateful for spiritual/personal growth. Everything on this path has informed my Raw Veganism. I am not pushing my views on anyone else. I love that I have made new friends here from all over who are open to trying new things. BTW, if you're ever near St. Louis we have an awesome Raw Vegan Potluck on the First Sunday of every month at the Healing Arts Center in Maplewood, MO. You can find out more about it by clicking on the EVENTS tab at the top of this or most any vegifide page. I like to make incredible meals and share them. I enjoy decluttering (less is more), working on and beautifying my home, playing my guitar, working on/riding motorcycles, getting out in nature, travel, sharing meals, massage, film and many other things. Et vous?
How I became a veggie: I remember lots of things that contributed to my decision. I remember hitch hiking through Europe and walking by a slaughter house. I remember the stench and the cries of the cattle. In the beginning, I tried to do variants of a vegetarian diet, but lacked any kind of support or access to information. I really started to understand and progress when I read Dr. Neal Barnard's book "Food for Life" and met and shared veg meals with other vegetarians at the St. Louis Vegetarian society.
