A:I read this post again and decided that I have been vegan long enough to answer exactly how I feel.
Veganism means something different to everyone, so no one has the right to define it for us. I take offense by other vegans thinking they have the right to constitute what makes someone a vegan. If I kill others, run people off the road, lie, cheat or steal, what would you call me if I ate no animals? There are just as few animals on my menu as there are other on other vegans’ menus, so what exactly is veganism – a fraternity or a cult?
Personally, I’d appreciate it if other vegans wouldn’t be concerned about how I live my life, or if I’m zen, kind or gentle. I am enraged by animal cruelty, where some vegans might feel the correct approach is to be more passive and loving.
So, to answer your question, no, your driving does not affect other vegans, like myself. If you pass a truck on the way to slaughter, I give you full support if you decide you want to flip off the driver.
And another thing – if a person lives in an area of the world where vegan clothing and accessories are not available, that person is STILL a vegan if they don’t eat animals. Everyone’s intention is improvement. If alternatives become more widely available, improvement will follow suit.
