Research on human parthenogenesis is focused on the production of embryonic stem cells for use in medical treatment, not as a reproductive strategy.

Its not uncommon to see surprising or alarming scientific results reported in the news. Often I will look at the original research the news article discusses, to see if the reporter is really onto something or just trying to sell more newspapers. Usually its the latter, but it may not be their fault; as it is often the study design which is sub-standard meaning the results can't be relied upon. A great example was posted on vegifide last week describing how vego children are more likely to suffer from eating disorders.

A giant set of golden arches outside a McDonald’s in eastern Arizona toppled in high winds Wednesday, crushing a Naperville couple’s Chevy Trailblazer as they sat inside the parked vehicle.

The KFC demonstration in St. Louis will be postponed until next Sasturday April 25 from 12-1 at the KFC, 790 N. New Ballas Rd. due to the rain we will be getting.

I think for something ostensibly so important to them, accepting a dog as a gift seems kind of impulsive (not to mention being complicit with the objectification of animals as cutesy toys to be gifted).
