How science gets it wrongIts not uncommon to see surprising or alarming scientific results reported in the news. Often I will look at the original research the news article discusses, to see if the reporter is really onto something or just trying to sell more newspapers. Usually its the latter, but it may not be their fault; as it is often the study design which is sub-standard meaning the results can't be relied upon. A great example was posted on vegifide last week describing how vego children are more likely to suffer from eating disorders. Sat, 04/18/2009 - 2:54am — adam_antichrist |

Hey Bo-bamaI think for something ostensibly so important to them, accepting a dog as a gift seems kind of impulsive (not to mention being complicit with the objectification of animals as cutesy toys to be gifted). www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-talk-obama-puppy-13-apr13,0,2536424.stor... chicagotribune.com Tribune reporter April 13, 2009 Mon, 04/13/2009 - 11:20am — sassafras |
