Most people do not have access to scientific literature, and wouldn't understand the material if they did. Because I am a biology student I have access to all the major scientific journals in the world thru my uni. I also have sufficient training in experimental design and statistics to know whether many studies were well designed or not, and whether the conclusions they make and more importantly those made by journalists reporting on these studies is reasonable.

Attenborough warns on population

The broadcaster Sir David Attenborough has become a patron of a group seeking to cut the growth in human population.

On joining the Optimum Population Trust, Sir David said growth in human numbers was "frightening".

Sir David has been increasingly vocal about the need to reduce the number of people on Earth to protect wildlife.

The Trust, which accuses governments and green groups of observing a taboo on the topic, say they are delighted to have Sir David as a patron.

I have decided to start a vegan police force with the intention of clarifying the vegan message not among omnivores but vegans. Too many vegans form their own opinions and it is no longer tolerable. I figure this site is the ideal place to begin.

I have a five year plan which will begin with the development of the Vegan Commandments. Anybody who does not conform to these will be forced to label themselves something other than vegan. I suggest vogon, after the planet destroying species in Douglass Adams "Hitch-hiker's guide to the galaxy".
